Ridley

Like all of the Ridley frames raced in the ProTour, the Orion is built in a monocoque design. The tubes are made from what Ridley terms 24-ton carbon fiber. By definition, it has a tensile strength of 24 tons per square cm, and Ridley chooses to make the outermost weave unidirectional carbon. The weight of the Orion is nearly identical to the Damocles, even though it costs less. The Orion is a pure race bike, and it's at home in any conditions: flat or hilly, smooth roads or jarring.

The Damocles is built using the most advanced method available for carbon fiber construction: It's a monocoque frame, which thanks to its seamless design gives it loads of durability and lightness. Ridley optimized it for sprinters by building it with a tapered headtube. The bottom bearing is 1.5" in diameter, and it tapers up to a standard 1-1/8" at the top, giving the front end supreme stiffness when you're out of the saddle. Ridley designed the Damocles tubes using their "Sharp Edge Design" to meet this exact need -- by triangulating the cross-section of the top tube where it mates to the headtube, and by making the downtube hexagonal where it feeds into the BB shell, the net effect is to give the Damocles maximum resistance to flex under power.

The shaping of the Aedon is reminiscent of the Damocles -- all the way down to the triangulated top tube sections and the hexagonal downtube. Such shaping is impossible on an aluminum frame except through the use of hydroforming technology. Best of all, the durability and stiffness attributes of the Aedon don't come at the expense of added weight. At a frame weight of 1500g, you'll be hard pressed to find a lighter frameset in its price class.

Whoaaa....A ride doesn't get much smoother than this. With a 1.32 kg Hydro Forming Alloy + Carbon rs frame, the Boreas is for someone who always wants to be in the front of the pack.

In this corner weighing in at 1.3 kg, the Compact. With a Full Hydro Formed Alloy frame, strength and stiffness are not something you sacrafice in this light responsive bike.
